Hi Guys
I noticed some problems with virginmedia over the past few days. The process was taking about 8 hours and not actually doing any updates. I noticed I was a bit behind on software and .ini versions so updated it all yesterday but I’m still having problems.
It is a lot faster now than it was before, my run though just now only took about 10 mins for the 50 channels I have defined but it is still not getting there.
Also I have only just noticed these region files, have they always been there? I had a look around the docs but couldn’t find what, if anything I need to do about them. If you could point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it :-)
Also while I am here, and sorry of this is mentioned elsewhere, but the log file can be a bit confusing to me.
I see the line :
[Error ] Could find existing channel (xmltv_id=Cartoon.Network) in the config file
And the first thing I see is the word "error" but then it goes on to say that it *could* find the channel. So is this reporting a problem or something else?
Many thanks
Rob
I'm also having issues with this site, updated to latest ini and after deleting the hot cookie file and xmltv it started to grab..
Then after a while it hangs.. had to delete again to restart but still hangs without completing..
I also thought that originally that they IP was getting blocked, so I tried with a UK VPN and still same issue, just hanging on start.
Also added UK proxy settings to the file and still same issues.
I'll try the delays and decrease the days now.
Thanks.
I've restarted a few times and I also moved between my desktop and laptop (copying just the xmltv).. so connection would have ceased.
I think there maybe someting else with the site, I'll do a few more tests with the delays and see how that goes..
Thanks!
Getting a better understanding now about the flood protection, thanks for explaining that.
I'll to delete the xmltv and cookie before I start and wait for it to hang, when it hangs I'll see how many shows are shown for that channel and modify accordingly.
Cheers!
Just makes it more interesting, otherwise it would be too easy!
Could the cookie file that is being created have a factor?
Sorry, I meant to write the hot cookie file that is being created during the grab
Cool, running it now.. waiting for it to hang! haha

iiiiiii.....r
It hangs as soon as it hits that 'r', so I closed it..
Then deleted the original xmltv file with previous data.. then restarted it so it has to create a new xmltv and it starts grabbing straightaway.
Now waiting to see how far it gets before it hangs.
Could there be another issue with the ini, as if it was blocked it shouldn't work even after a new xmltv has to be created?
I opened up the previous working xmltv in Notepad++ and replaced all instances of (?)</title> with </title>
86 times in there!
Now I'm running again with the modified ini and it's got past where it was hanging last night.
So far so good without creating a fresh xmltv.:)
Thanks dude!
Started to hang again, so I deleted and restarted and again it hanged.. So I changed the delay, but it still hangs.
<retry channel-delay="5" index-delay="1" show-delay="5" time-out="5">4</retry>
I noticed it's again at the same place each time, this time it was BBC Four.. going to the website I see it has "Channel Off Air".
Think this is causing it to hang as there is no data?
I've reset everything to default, removed the ? from an existing xmltv and added the above mods..
It's gone past where it was hanging, this looks good now.
Hopefully no more surprises.
Cheers!
Completed yesterday without any issue, but today the fun continues:

Existing guide data restored!
Keep getting that on all channels, tried restarting and changing the cookies and deleting previous xmltv.
Yep, that works.. Will keep an eye on the listings page.
Cheers!
Hi
Sorry for kicking this off and then abandoning you to it for a week!
I've updated and adjusted my timespan setting and all seems to be working through nicely.
Many thanks
Rob
Full week (7 day) grab is also working again as of Monday, must've been a site issue on Sunday.
