MDB and IMDB Question

hello,

using Webgrab+Plus now with TVHeadend and XBMC (Gotham) on Linux. Works well and love it. Thanks for the great work!!

Just one thing I would like to know is how do I use and display the MDB postprocessor and visualize the IMDB data in XBMC?

  • Or is there no possibility in XBMC to use/display this?
  • Or is the information grabbed from IMDB merged into the normal EPG data so I cannot recognize it?
  • how can I for example display coverart and/or fanart? any possibility for that also?

thanks

Hi,

I cannot answer your questions about the functionality of TVHeadend and XBMC because I don't use them myself. Maybe some other user can answer that , else you can probably find that info in the specific websites for those.

Regarding the WG++ MDB postprocessor  recomment reading the documentation http://webgrabplus.com/documentation/configuration-mdb/mdbconfigxml. Although that is centered around the configuration of the MDB postprocessor, it will answer most of your questions.

As you will read there, the MDB (e.g. IMDb) data it grabs is merged with the epg data grabbed by the frontend WG++ grabber into a new xmltv file. The type of data and the location of it in this merged file depends of the 'allocation and presentation' settings in the mdbconfig file , see http://webgrabplus.com/documentation/configuration-mdb/mdbconfigxml#config_allpres. You will also find there a list of all the possible mdb data elements you can add to your epg.

If your PVR can handle the frontend xmltv file produced by WG++, it will have no trouble with this merged xmltv file. The extra MDB data will just show in the EPG of your PVR.

One of the MDB data elements that can be added to your merged xmltv file is the 'mdb-showicon' , which is the link to the cover art picture of the show as present in IMDb. If your PVR can handle links to pictures on the web it will display it.
